This Privacy Policy describes how Consumer Lit (“Consumer Lit,” “the firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about visitors to https://consumerlit.com (the “Site”) and individuals who contact the firm. Consumer Lit is a California law firm. This Privacy Policy is written to comply with applicable United States and California privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), Cal. Civ. Code §§ 1798.100 et seq.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers. Name, postal address, telephone number, email address, and similar identifiers you submit through our intake form, by email, or by telephone.
- Information you provide regarding your matter. Facts, documents, and other information you choose to share regarding a potential or existing legal claim.
- Internet and electronic activity. IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring URLs, and similar information automatically collected when you visit the Site.
- Communications. Records of correspondence with the firm, including telephone calls, text messages, and email exchanges.
2. Sources of Personal Information
We collect personal information directly from you (when you complete our intake form, call us, or correspond with us), automatically (through cookies and similar technologies on the Site), and occasionally from third parties (including referral sources, public records, and service providers that assist with case investigation).
3. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- To evaluate prospective representation and to provide legal services to existing clients;
- To respond to inquiries and to communicate with you regarding your matter;
- To send informational, case-related, and (where you consent) marketing communications by telephone, text message, and email;
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- To comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations applicable to attorneys, including those of the State Bar of California; and
- To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
4. SMS, Telephone, and Email Communications
If you provide your telephone number and grant the corresponding consent on our intake form, you authorize Consumer Lit and its agents to contact you by telephone, text message (SMS), or email at the number and address provided, including by means of an automatic telephone dialing system or pre-recorded or artificial voice. Consent is not a condition of representation. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying “STOP” to any message; you may opt out of email by following the unsubscribe instructions in any commercial email or by contacting info@consumerlit.com.
SMS data is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Mobile information collected for SMS programs (including phone numbers and consent records) will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
5. Disclosure of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. To vendors that assist with website hosting, customer relationship management, electronic communications, document management, and case investigation, subject to written confidentiality obligations.
- Co-counsel and referrals. To attorneys with whom we associate or refer matters, only with your knowledge and consent.
- Legal process. When required by subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to comply with applicable law and the California Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Protection of rights. To protect the rights, property, or safety of the firm, our clients, or others.
6. Cookies and Site Analytics
The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to operate properly and to analyze visitor traffic in aggregate. You may disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect the functionality of the Site.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for so long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and to comply with our professional obligations as attorneys, including applicable client-file-retention requirements.
8. Information Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No system of electronic storage or transmission, however, is completely secure.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under sixteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under sixteen.
10. Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) provides you with the following rights, subject to certain exceptions, including those applicable to information protected by the attorney-client privilege or the attorney work-product doctrine:

- Right to Delete. The right to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you.
- Right to Correct. The right to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing. The right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Consumer Lit does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information. Consumer Lit does not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right.
- Right to Non-Discrimination. The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your CCPA rights.

11. “Shine the Light”
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request information regarding the disclosure of personal information to third parties for those parties’ direct marketing purposes. Consumer Lit does not disclose personal information for such purposes.
12. Do Not Track
The Site does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals at this time.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” above will reflect the date of the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted prominently on the Site.
